Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade Rainforest Unit wrapped up tonight with a fantastic open house! Since March, our students have been exploring the wonders of the rainforest through reading, writing, science, and art. This evening, they had the exciting opportunity to bring their families into the “rainforest” and show off all their hard work.
From vibrant art projects to thoughtful writing portfolios, students proudly shared what they’ve learned about the animals, layers, and importance of the rainforest. The transformed hallway gave families a chance to walk through the rainforest themselves—a perfect way to end a meaningful and engaging unit of study
Our 5th grade students enjoyed their final Art Cart experience of the year — a special event made possible through the generous support of our PTO. The project was led by Teri Gambetti, owner of Leo's Studio in Pekin, and brought creativity and fun to our entire grade level.

Our 2nd graders had a blast during our annual Tie-Dye Day! 🎨 It was a colorful, creative experience filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of tie-dye! A big thank you to our awesome 7th graders for joining in and helping out—it was such a fun way to collaborate across grade levels.
The 4/5th grade track meet is in full swing! The participants and cheerleaders are doing a great job, thank you, Mr. Bricker and all of our volunteers, for all of the hard work it takes to put this event on, our students sure have a great time!

Our preschoolers wrapped up their unit on flowers and plants with a special collaboration with Ms. Harmon's agriculture classes. Together, they planted flowers and explored the greenhouse and community garden. It was the perfect way to bring their learning to life!. #ibtigerpride

The Drama Club Flower Fundraiser is this Saturday, May 10th. The greenhouse will be open from 8am-12pm for annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, accents, and (limited) hanging baskets. Pre-orders may pick up during this time.

Miss Morgan's kindergarten class won our Tiger Tales reading program for April; they had a blast celebrating their love for reading with a pizza party on Friday! Great job meeting your reading goals! #ibtigerpride
On Friday, Mr. Hallstrom's Guitar Community Hour class performed for our students and staff in the theater. The students worked diligently throughout the quarter to prepare for this performance, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and talents! #ibtigerpride
Miss Bitner's 3rd grade class had a blast putting their writing skills to the test with a fun and flavorful assignment: “How to Make a PB&J!” This step-by-step writing activity challenged students to be clear, detailed, and creative as they explained exactly how to make the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
From opening the bread bag and carefully selecting two slices (an important lesson learned!) to spreading the peanut butter and jelly just right, students practiced using sequencing words like “first,” “next,” and “finally” to guide their readers through the sandwich-making process.
Not only did this activity sharpen our students' writing and communication skills, it also sparked laughter, teamwork, and maybe even a little lunchtime hunger. Their descriptive directions showed just how powerful writing can be when it's tied to something familiar—and delicious!
Great job, 3rd grade writers! You made us all proud… and a little hungry!
