Miss Bitner's 3rd grade class had a blast putting their writing skills to the test with a fun and flavorful assignment: “How to Make a PB&J!” This step-by-step writing activity challenged students to be clear, detailed, and creative as they explained exactly how to make the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
From opening the bread bag and carefully selecting two slices (an important lesson learned!) to spreading the peanut butter and jelly just right, students practiced using sequencing words like “first,” “next,” and “finally” to guide their readers through the sandwich-making process.
Not only did this activity sharpen our students' writing and communication skills, it also sparked laughter, teamwork, and maybe even a little lunchtime hunger. Their descriptive directions showed just how powerful writing can be when it's tied to something familiar—and delicious!
Great job, 3rd grade writers! You made us all proud… and a little hungry!

What a performance! Our 6th–8th grade band and choir students wrapped up the year with an incredible final concert. Their growth, dedication, and musical talent were on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come. Way to go, Tigers!

IBHS Interactors volunteered at Camp Big Sky, helping with staining, painting, and landscaping. They also donated $350, raised through "Float Fridays," to support the camp's mission of providing outdoor access for individuals with special needs.

Great season, Argos Robotics! Unfortunately, the team’s quest to continue on to Einstein in the World Competition has come to an end. However, the team won an incredible award at the competition: the 2025 Quality Award for the Archimedes Field. #ibtigerpride
Today was a buzzing success at Illini Bluffs Elementary as our students celebrated Earth Day a little early — all made possible by the generous support of our PTO! 💛
Our day was packed with hands-on learning and fun: 🍯 Students learned all about honey bees, explored workwear and tools used in beekeeping, and even got to see a full-size bee hive from Tippy Creek! Each student left with a sweet treat — a honey stick to enjoy!
🎨 We also welcomed a talented local artist who taught our students how paper is made. After the demonstration, students used the handmade paper to create beautiful cards of their own!
A huge thank you to our PTO, community partners, and staff for helping our students celebrate our planet in such a fun and meaningful way! 🌍💚
The 3rd grade successfully completed their Adopt a Peep Responsibility project this week. This engaging initiative encouraged students to care for their pet peep by ensuring they were brought to and from school, reading to them each evening, and documenting daily adventures in their journals. Each day, students were rewarded with bunny money for showcasing responsibility in the classroom. At the end of the week, they had the opportunity to use their bunny money to buy items from the Hop Shop!
