On Saturday, October 15, over 30 plus community members, parents, teachers, students, staff, administrators, union representatives, and the board of education participated in a community strategic planning discussion facilitated by the Illinois Association of School Boards. Part of the day was spent reviewing the district’s mission and vision statements, discussing values and beliefs, and discussing five focus areas: student achievement and curriculum, programs and services, facilities, district finances, and district and community relations.

The board of education’s objective for the discussion was to gather suggestions and comments from community representatives to establish the district’s prioritized goals. These goals will then be shared with the faculty and staff for use in planning and decision-making activities during the year and for years to come as part of a district strategic plan. The school board and district leadership will work together over the next several months to finalize the district’s strategic plan.

Our district would like to thank everyone who participated in the discussion. As noted during the community discussion, we can strengthen our efforts to continuously improve our schools by working together.
