Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this communication finds you well. I want to thank you, again, for your continued support as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time. Also, I want to communicate some things regarding the end of this school year and looking forward to next year.

End of Year Calendar

There may be some confusion in regards to the month of May. As you may recall, we only used one snow day this year.  As a result, here is how the end of the year looks, as of now, unless more unexpected emergency days arise (power outages, boil orders, etc.).

Friday, May 7--student attendance day

Friday, May 14--no school

Friday, May 21--no school

Wednesday, May 26--last day for students--11:30/11:40 dismissal

Thursday, May 27--Institute--no student attendance

Friday, May 28--no school

Schedule for 2021-22 school year

Unfortunately, at this time, there is no official guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) or the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as to mitigation, social distancing, masks, remote learning, etc., for the fall semester.  As of now, I anticipate that things will be similar to what they are now in regards to the use of masks and distancing.  In terms of what the school schedule will look like, we are planning on running a full-day schedule like we did “pre-covid” with a 3:05/3:15 pm dismissal with in-person learning.  However, please keep in mind that could all change depending on what guidance comes forth this summer.

Voluntary COVID Vaccinations for 16-17-year-olds

IBHS is partnering with OSF to host a COVID-19 Vaccination clinic this Friday, April 30, 2021for students 16 and up. The clinic will start at 9:00 am in the high school library.  OSF will be administering the Pfizer vaccination to those who sign-up to participate.

In order to participate, students 16 and up will need to do two things:

1. Register:  Registration is open now through Thursday (4/29) at noon. Please register through OSF via this link:https://www.osfmychart.org/osfmychart/signupandschedule/embeddedschedule?vt=8404&dept=11022501.

2. Complete the Parent Consent Form:  In order to participate, students will need to bring a completed OSF Parent Consent form.  You can pick one up in the high school office or print one here: OSF Consent Form.  Students must have the completed consent form in order to receive the vaccination.

As we enter the final stretch, we want to remain in person as much as possible, minimize quarantines and isolations, and we also want co-curricular activities to continue through June.  Please remain vigilant in how you are addressing COVID mitigation within your households.  The vaccinations are beginning to help, but we all need to continue safe practices and procedures both at school and in our personal lives.

Again, thank you for your continued support and cooperation - we are looking forward to closing the year on a positive note!
