3.14.2021 Announcement

IBHS Families,

Due to an increasing number of confirmed positive COVID cases, rising numbers of presumed positive cases, and consultation with Peoria City/County Health Department officials, starting tomorrow, Monday, March 15th, the HIGH SCHOOL ONLY will be remote learning through Friday, March 26th. The elementary and middle school will remain in-person during this time.  In-person learning for high school students will resume Tuesday, April 6th (following our scheduled spring break).

All in-person high school activities/athletics will be cancelled during this time. A decision regarding resuming in-person activities/athletics after March 26th, will be made in the near future, will be based on most accurate COVID information, and after consultation with the local health department.

Students will follow the regular A/B-day schedule and will need to check-in/participate in classes throughout the school day. Please check your email regularly for more information and updates.  If a high school student needs a lunch (and breakfast for the next day) please call the high school office (309.389.5681) by 9am each day. Lunches will be available for pick-up at the high school office (Door 10) between 11am and Noon.

It is important to reiterate the need to follow isolation and quarantine practices.  This includes those positive staying away from others, notifying close contacts to quarantine away from others, monitor symptoms, stay home when ill, and wear masks.  This takes a full community response.  While our schools do the very best in protecting the health and safety of students in the school, we all need to do our part at home.  That means, not hosting or participating in large gatherings, socialize within households, and again, if you are in isolation and quarantine, stay away from others. If anyone in your family/home tests positive for COVID, this needs to be reported to the school as soon as possible.

Open and ongoing communication will continue to be essential for all of us. Please do not hesitate to contact the high school office and/or your student’s teachers with any questions or concerns. Please continue to practice social distancing, avoiding large gatherings, proper hand sanitation, and wearing masks so that we can slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and return to in-person learning as soon as possible.
