Illini Bluffs Families and Students,
In recent meetings with local health officials, area school administrators were advised that in order to meet COVID guidelines/protocols schools should begin planning to hold outdoor graduation ceremonies. The Illini Bluffs administrative team has started working through the logistics of holding 8th grade promotion and high school graduation ceremonies outside. While considering logistics – such as social distancing requirements for graduates and audience members, sound/audio needs, a location on-campus that could accommodate a large crowd without impeding parking needs and traffic flow, etc. – it became apparent that we may need to look for an off-campus venue to hold our graduation ceremonies.
This year, we will partner with Limestone High School to hold our ceremonies utilizing their outdoor graduation facilities. This will require Illini Bluffs to change the original dates/times for 8th grade promotion and high school graduation. Below are the dates/times for each ceremony:
Date: May 15, 2021 (in the event of inclement weather, May 16th will be the back-up date)
Location: Limestone High School (Football Field)
Time: 10:00 A.M. - 8th Grade Promotion
11:30 A.M. – High School Graduation
Pictures: The middle school and high school gyms will be staged with our traditional graduation decorations for picture opportunities following each ceremony.
We are sharing this information now to allow families plenty of time to plan accordingly. The middle school and high school principals will share more specific details with their respective graduates, and their families, as it becomes available. While these events will look and feel different than our traditional graduations, we are excited that these important milestones will be celebrated in-person this year.
