On Friday, April 15th, Community Hour students and teachers spent the morning focused on Community Service.  Students and teachers collaborated to create meaningful service experiences and today carried out their plans.  Service projects included: 

  • visting EP!Cin Peoria and spending time helping in their community garden;
  • creating blankets for patients/families served by the Ronald McDonald House in Peoria;
  • filling Easter eggs and preparing play areas  in advance of tomorrow's (Saturday, April 16th, @ 9:00am) Hollis Park District Easter Egg Hunt ; 
  • making and packaging various flavors of dog treats to donate to TAPS No Kill Animal Shelter;
  • helping complete yard work for community members (Thanks to IB Grad Dan Dunn and Altorfer Rents for proving equpiment to lighten the load); 
  • teaching 6th grade students about our Industrial Technology program by helping them create birdhouses for their families to enjoy; 
  • Hosting an "Anime Convention" for IBES students to explore art and creativity; 
  • and providng 8th grade students with a preview of Community Hour.

Among other experiences, Community Hour has focused on understanding and improving the world our students live in. We are learning about the integral impact each of us can have on making our school community, the Illini Bluffs community, central Illinois, and the world a better place.
