The need is still there within our community. The IB Food Pantry is in need of these items: Paper towels, toilet paper, size 4,5, or 6 diapers, tampons, canned fruit, canned lunch items like spaghettios, & Ramen noodles. We can’t thank you enough for your continued support!
A message from the IB Christmas HOPE organization: As we round the corner into another month of isolation and uncertainty due to COVID-19, we here at IB Christmas HOPE would like to help those in need within our IB Community in some small way. We will be offering a few household and food supplies for those that need a little help. If this is something you believe would benefit your household, please fill out the COVID-19 relief application on our website at http://www.IBChristmasHOPE.com by Monday, May 11, 2020. If you know of someone who does not have access to the internet, please have them call us at (309) 253-6993 by the deadline of Monday, May 11, 2020. Below are the facts you need to be aware of for participation of the COVID-19 basket: 1) You MUST reside within the Illini Bluffs School District to qualify. 2) This deadline is final – no exceptions - as we will only be purchasing for boxes on those who have completed the online application or called us. *We are at the mercy of the deliveries for the stores who are helping us and additional shopping would not be practicing the best stay-at-home guidelines for our workers. 3) The boxes are for pick-up only. *To ensure the safety of both the recipients and the workers no deliveries will be made. Please be sure you can make the commitment to pick your box up or have someone willing to pick-up your box prior to filling out the application. 4) Our projected pick-up date: *Saturday, May 23, 2020 *Please practice good socializing skills by wearing a mask at the time of pick-up. *Additional information will be communicated to the basket recipients. At roughly 4:30 this afternoon, during scheduled maintenance, the Illini Bluffs administration was made aware of a concern regarding the water quality in our schools. As a result, the administrative team met with a team of individuals who worked collectively to address the issue. The team also received guidance from the Department of Health, medical professionals, and poison control to ensure our students, staff, and faculty were safe. During our discussions we also contacted Illinois American Water and were assured the water in the community was not affected. Student and staff safety is our top priority. A qualified agency will be conducting testing throughout the schools on Thursday, March 5, to ensure safe and useable water. A decision regarding after school activities Thursday, as well as school on Friday, will be made based on the results of water testing. If you have any questions, please contact the Illini Bluffs District office at (309) 389-2231.

On Monday, Mrs. Herrmann's second graders took a trip to the HS library to read with Ms. Gresham's U.S. Issues seniors. Last semester, these seniors wrote CF Industries grant proposals, and one of the proposals that was funded was an environmental bookmobile for the elementary school. This was a great opportunity to take advantage of our K-12 campus; Illini Bluffs is lucky to be able to experience learning together, across grade levels.

IB Stakeholders, Undoubtedly, you have seen media coverage on the Coronavirus. A meeting was recently held with Jason Marks, Director of Emergency Management and Preparedness, from the Peoria City/County Health Department, the Peoria County Regional Office of Education, and superintendents from Peoria County. The purpose of the meeting was to educate the superintendents about this virus and to answer any questions. At this point in time, there are no known cases of Coronavirus in Central Illinois. If it appears in our schools, it will be handled like any other virus has been handled in the past. This includes educating our students on the importance of hand-washing, staying at home when exhibiting signs or symptoms, and appropriate cleaning practices within school. Please click on the link below to review documents from the Peoria City/County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Health. https://5il.co/cswy
